Mahwah Senior Center

On April 2, 2026, Silver Arrows Initiative hosted its first official event at the Mahwah senior center. From 11:00-12:30, 12 senior citizens arrived and participated in stretching, practicing, and shooting. Our team of five volunteers went around and made sure each archer had individualized and specialized teaching to increase accuracy and ensure safety. After 2 rounds of practice and 6 scoring rounds, all participants competed in Olympic rounds, and the top three archers were specifically commended. Everyone had a great time and received their certificates proving that they were certified in the sport of archery! From 1:00-2:00, 5 senior citizens attended. While not as many as the first session, our team ensured a strong communal solidarity persisted. For our first event, everything went along smoothly, and Silver Arrows hopes to continue hosting events at Mahwah!

First Trial Session

Silvers Arrows Initiative hosted its first trial session at the SW Archery Range in Paramus, NJ on 12/30 from 10:00 – 11:00. Our workshop included 6 participants, all of whom gained a better clarity and awareness of archery whilst also having a great time! For this session, velcro targets and felt-tip arrows were incorporated to minimize injury risk and keeping the environment safe (all seniors were instructed on safety tips before shooting initiated, providing a fun yet secure area!). After 2 rounds of practice and 6 rounds of scoring, each round having 5 arrows, seniors participated in an olympic-round face-off amongst each other, promoting a sense of competition that was both competitive yet lively. We hope that our first official session will go just as smoothly as our trial session, for the sake of all seniors who have not explored the sport of archery yet! Cookie Sale

Silver Arrows Initiative hosted its first Holiday Cookie sale and its second ever fundraiser in front of Ridgewood Company in Ridgewood, NJ on 12/13 from 1:30 – 4:00. Once again, the organization’s members distributed thoroughly-made Christmas cookies, from cute snowmen to gingerbread men! For this sale, we incorporated the usage of mini sized and regular sized cookies, held at different prices. With this change, many customers came to support by buying them in person. For our second sale, the whole team is thankful for the improved success provided for our organization. Our entire team is thankful and hopeful that this triumph will help seniors in more opportunities for archery! With sincerity, the Silver Arrows Initiative Team.

Thanksgiving
Cookie Sale

Silver Arrows Initiative hosted its first Thanksgiving cookie sale fundraiser in front of Ridgewood Coffee Company in Ridgewood, NJ on 11/23, from 1:30 – 4:30. Members of our organization distributed intricately designed Thanksgiving cookies, ranging from delightful turkeys to stylish pumpkins! Many customers and patrons came out to support by buying them in person or preordering our cookies through an online Google Form. As a first sale, the team greatly appreciates the huge success for the organization! We hope that this sale is an essential stepping stone into reaching our goals of supporting seniors in all endeavors of archery! With gratitude, the Silver Arrows Initiative Team.
