About Us
About Us
Silver Arrows Initiative is a non-profit organization dedicated to teaching and spreading the sport of archery to senior citizens. We host events to promote physical, social, and mental wellness in our surrounding communities. Our group of student volunteers learn how to educate and coach new members of the sport, along with developing important social and management skills. Together, we aim to make archery accessible and ensure every senior has an opportunity to experience empowerment through archery.
Nicholas Kim-President
Hello, I am Nicholas Kim, the president of our organization. Having participated in archery for more than five years with six national medals, archery has one of my largest endeavors. For me, archery has instilled the values of discipline, focus, and mental concentration; principles which I believe are critical for all to obtain. In spreading the sport to my local community, I became a nationally certified USA Archery Level 1 Instructor and volunteered in coaching younger archers. Now, I am empowered to expand the sport to senior citizens for their own physical, mental, social, and emotional values. As a low-impact sport, it promotes gentle strength-building, balance, and flexibility without placing excessive strain on joints. Archery is an inclusive activity that encourages seniors to stay active, confident, and connected while enjoying social engagement through our free classes!
Aiden Bae-Vice President
Hello, I’m Aiden Bae! I am the Vice President for Silver Arrows Initiative. As a nationally ranked archer, a USA Level 1 certified archery instructor, and a national medalist for team rounds at JOAD Outdoor Target Nationals, archery has been well established in my life. Through my experience with archery, I’ve learned crucial values of patience, consistent practice, and dedication to building a stronger, healthier mental mindset. I personally believe that everyone deserves a chance to learn a target sport that’s both engaging and fun with direct feedback. Sofie Hwang-Treasurer
Hello, my name is Sofie Hwang, and I am the Treasurer of the Silver Arrows Initiative. I was recently ranked top ten in my division in the 2025 JOAD Outdoor Target Nationals and won a national bronze medal for mixed teams in the 2025 Gator Cup qualifiers. I have also received numerous medals in regional and state tournaments. I used to think sports only involved physical activity, but throughout my three year journey as an archer, I realized that it also improves mental strength, focus and discipline. Archery isn’t just for the young and athletic; people of all ages and body types, including senior citizens, can learn to shoot. Aside from archery, I am someone who genuinely enjoys giving back to the community through volunteer work at libraries, hospitals, and food pantries. I am really grateful that I can promote a sport that many people overlook, while also helping others learn a new hobby.
